History

  • 1950

    The "Sauerland" always used to be a great location for vacations. In the 1950s two men from Warendorf: Mr. Austermann and Mr. Hartmann had an amazing idea during a rainy night on occasion of their holidays. They drew and constructed their first caravan: the Falter I

  • 1955

    The question of who would own the rights to the design was worked out amon friends. After working everything out, the Falter I was renamed the Hartmann. That was in 1952. Since Mr. Austermann wanted to camp in his own mobile home, however, he quickly build one for himself. This led to the creation of the legendary Knospe camper in 1955.

  • 1966 - 1970

    1966
    Wilhelm Saure from Herdecke takes over the Austermann company in Sassenberg. The company had since seen success with its legendary "Knospe" camper trailer. Founding of „Wilhelm Saure KG“.

    Expansion of company operations in Sassenberg to Drostenstrasse with growing success.

  • 1974 - 1978

    Until 1974
    Due to rapid growth in the number of orders, large portions of production are handled in co-operation with Karmann in Rheine. Serie: Lord, Münsterland.
    1978
    Expansion of production to Warendorf. Construction of mobile homes.

     

  • 1981 - 1985

    1981
    Expansion of production facilities to Rudolf-Diesel-Strasse in Sassenberg. Start up of "LMC Lord Münsterland Caravan GmbH" with the integration of new business partners.

    1985
    Widespread success with the Münsterland, Luxus, Münsterland-Dominant, Lord and Lord Exquisit series. Expansion of exports.

  • 1986 - 1993

    Ab 1986
    Construction of Liberty Motorhomes with great success.
    1991
    Acqusition ot the company by Erwin Hymer.
    1993
    LMC start building caravans of the company T.E.C.

  • 1995 - 2005

    1995
    Complete relocation of T.E.C from Mühlheim to a new building in Sassenberg
    2000
    Buidling of a new customer center and a new production and logistics building.
    2005
    LMC starts building alcove and semi-integrated motorhomes on a Ford Transit chassis for the first time.

    2015
    LMC Caravan GmbH & Co. KG celebrates 60 years of passion for caravaning
    2018
    Grand opening of the new factory hall in Sassenberg.

  • 2020

    LMC celebrates the 65th anniversary of its existence, and looks forward to a bright future. On this special occasion, LMC is introducing the Style 493 K and the Van 643 G “65 years edition” Jubilee models, which comes with a particularly extensive range of equipment at no extra charge.
